Work Location:
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
    Analyze project requirements, specifications, and drawings to determine material quantities, labor needs, and other costs.
    Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for timber frame projects, including materials, labor, subcontractors, and other related expenses.
    Conduct thorough cost analysis and ensure that estimates are competitive and commercially viable.
    Utilize industry knowledge and software to accurately estimate costs.
    Project Planning and Execution:
    Work closely with project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that cost estimates are accurate and aligned with project goals.
    Provide input on project planning and scheduling to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
    Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle and identify potential cost overruns or savings.
    Subcontractor Management:
    Obtain quotations from subcontractors and manage relationships with subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
    Review subcontractor bids and negotiate contracts to secure the best possible terms for the project.
    Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of all cost estimates and project-related data.
    Prepare detailed reports on project costs and identify any potential cost issues.
    Technical Skills:
    Possess a strong understanding of timber frame construction techniques, materials, and industry standards.
    Be proficient in using industry-standard software for estimating and project management.
    Other Duties:
    Assist with the preparation of tenders and proposals.
    Provide technical support to other team members.
    Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. 

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Education:
      A relevant degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. 
    • Experience:
      Several years of experience in timber frame construction, with a focus on estimating and cost management. 
    • Technical Skills:
      Proficient in using industry-standard software for estimating and project management. 
    • Analytical Skills:
      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to accurately assess project costs and identify potential issues. 
    • Communication Skills:
      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other team members and stakeholders. 
    • Organizational Skills:
      Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
